I’ve had bronchitis numerous times (to the point that it became chronic bronchitis) and in the earlier years that I had it, when my family and I were pretty clueless of what was going on, my doctor always told me that bronchitis is only contagious within the first 24 hours. I understand that still classifies it as contagious, but only for a brief fraction of time.

chronic bronchitis is not contageous. it is a secondary infection which is caused by a contageous primary infection and some kind of permanent injury to the bronchial membrane. Even with acute bronchitis, I doubt that the contageous stage is anywhere near the full duration of the bronchitis symptoms and may not necessarilly cause bronchitis when it is passed on to the next victim.
